Iran's Police Chief Brigadier General Hossein Ashtari voiced the Islamic Republic's readiness to enhance mutual cooperation with Syria in diverse security areas.
Speaking in a Monday meeting with Syrian Interior Minister Mohammad Ibrahim al-Shaar in Tehran,General Ashtari highlighted the capabilities of the Iranian law enforcement forces in various security fields.
"Given the capabilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran's police, especially in fighting organized crimes, combatting terrorism and scientific investigation for discovering crimes in the real world and cyberspace, we are ready for any kind of cooperation with Syria including training and exchanging experience," he said.
Syria was one of the countries that backed Iran during the Iraqi imposed war on the Islamic Republic in 1980s, the commander said, adding that, therefore, Tehran is always keen to help and cooperate with Syria in various spheres.
Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with Takfiri terrorists from the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) currently controlling parts of it, mostly in the east.
According to the United Nations, more than 220,000 people have been killed and one million wounded during the conflict.
In the meantime, Iran has remained a close ally of Syria and supports its legitimate government in the face of foreign-backed militancy.
Tehran insists that the Syrian nation is the only side that has the right to shape the future of its own country, rejecting foreign intervention with the use of force.
