Minister of Defense and Logistics of the Armed Forces Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan and Iraqi Vice-President Nouri al-Maliki in Baghdad on Wednesday discussed latest developments in Iraq and issues of mutual interest.
Al-Maliki lauded Iranian effective role to help the Iraqi government by the defense and security cooperation.
Iran's Defense Minister hoped for implementation of the agreements already reached by the Iranian and Iraqi defense and security officials to beef up the combat and defensive readiness of Iraq in campaign against terrorism.
'Iranian nation and government have stood by Iraqi government and nation with powerfully. The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready for cooperation with Iraq in all domains and expedite implementation of agreements to get Iraq rid of major challenges.'
The Iraqi top official said that Iran's assistance has always been tangible, strong, ontime and courageous.
'We have been well witnessing the effects and blessings of the assistance, especially in the campaign to wipe out Daesh terrorists from Mosul.'
He noted that Iran's help to found an independent, indigenized, authoritative defense industry can serve the Iraqi defense forces and strategic cooperation to strengthen Iraqi armed forces.
