Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi has outlined five key documents issued by independent nations that “clearly and substantively” refute the European trio’s (E3) attempt to reinstate previously lifted sanctions under UN Security Council Resolution 2231, deeming the move invalid and illegal.
Ayatollah Alireza Arafi, delivering Friday prayer sermons at Quds Mosque in Qom, said the so-called “snapback” mechanism is part of a broader chain of measures rooted in the American and Western approach of the “war of civilizations.” He stressed that the Iranian nation and the Islamic world must remain vigilant in the face of such plots.
Lebanon’s Hezbollah has emphasized that the activation of the snapback mechanism showed the US-European collusion aimed at increasing pressure on Iran.
The European Troika say that they have “triggered a 30-day period” to reinstate the UNSC sanctions on Iran, claiming that it does not mark the end of diplomacy and their extension offer remains on the table.
