Trump's Lawyer: Iran will collapse soon, US to impose more sanctions

Former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani has claimed that economic "isolation" would ultimately lead to the demise of the Iranian government.

(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani has claimed that economic "isolation" would ultimately lead to the demise of the Iranian government.

Speaking at a rally held by an opposition Iranian group in Paris, the US President's personal lawyer and ex-New York mayor Rudy Giuliani alleged that "we are now realistically being able to see an end to the regime in Iran."

"The mullahs must go, the ayatollah must go, and they must be replaced by a democratic government which Madam Rajavi represents. Freedom is right around the corner… Next year I want to have this convention in Tehran!" Giuliani noted.

He warned of tighter sanctions against Iran, which Giuliani said would facilitate the ouster of the Iranian government.

"When the greatest economic power stops doing business with you, then you collapse… and the sanctions will become greater, greater and greater," he claimed.

Additionally, Giuliani called for "a campaign to shame the European governments who are unwilling to support freedom and democracy."

"We need to insist that they join the [anti-Iranian] sanctions once again," he said, urging a boycott of companies "that continually do business with this [Iranian] regime."

Earlier this week, Iran's state news agency IRNA reported that the country's President Hassan Rouhani met senior government officials to discuss ways to prepare for possible sanctions so as to "prevent their negative impact."US President Donald Trump announced Washington's withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in May 2018, and the decision to re-impose sanctions against Tehran that had been in place before the JCPOA was clinched in 2015.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, for his part, pledged that the new anti-Iranian sanctions would be the "toughest" ever seen.

The State Department recently warned US allies not to purchase Iranian oil as of November, saying that doing so would lead to sanctions against entities working with the Islamic Republic.

Iran Supreme Leader: US desperately seeks to divide Iranians

the Leader of the Islamic Revolution hailed the determination and piety of the cadets and said: As a result of patience and piety, the hostile enemies, despite all their hard-worked cunning plots, won’t be able to do a thing against you.”

Ayatollah Khamenei advised the nation as well as the authorities on resistance and stated: “This is [an advice] for all the nation, in particular officials and managers of the Islamic society. Patience means keeping to aims and continuing involvement and active presence; it means considering far future goals.”

He further described patience and piety as the driving force for national dignity and held: “Because you are resisting today, future generations will reach the climax of success; they will reach the climax, but dignity and resistance is yours. The revolution is lasting and promising in case of patience and piety.

If patience and piety are practised by our dear youth, government officials and all the people, the enemy will by no means be able to damage you.”

Ayatollah Khamenei criticized countries that spend people’s wealth on buying weapons on the pretext of increasing their national power and mentioned: “National sovereignty is not giving the country’s money away for buying weapons; this is ridiculous. National sovereignty is not provided by another country coming from the other side of the world to support a country by establishing a base there and sucking on a nation’s blood in order to safeguard hereditary sovereignty. This is not sovereignty; this is humiliation. True sovereignty rises from hearts of the people.”

His Eminence tapped on instances that provide proof to Iran’s strong sovereignty and held: “The biggest reason for the sovereignty of the Iranian nation is that the Iranian nation progressed, and the US couldn't do a single thing [against it]. If the nation was not powerful and didn’t have sovereignty, a tenth of today’s efforts by the enemies sufficed to take the desired government away from the people.”

The leader of the revolution elaborated on movements inside Iran that contradict the ideals of the Islamic Republic and said: “Since day one, three movements emerged inside the country that opposed the revolution: one movement was a liberal one, inclining to the West and the US; the second movement was that of armed communists who were relentlessly ready to do anything; and the movement of hypocrites, with Islamic appearance and profane intentions, who finally appeared under the flag of Saddam. All the three movements were defeated by the Islamic Revolution.

The Islamic revolution, relying on the people’s support, has forced all the internal and external enemies to withdraw.”

The Supreme Leader went on to say: “The enemies seek to divide between the nation and the government by economic pressures. But we will reinforce our bonds with the nation through enemy-defeating solidarity.”

Referring to U.S. alliances with reactionary states in West Asia, Ayatollah Khamenei explained: “Another proof for to the power of the Islamic Republic lies in the coalitions the USA has formed in our region. If the US was capable of overcoming the Islamic system, it wouldn’t need to create coalitions with disgraceful countries in our region to cause insecurity, unrest and chaos in Iran.”

The Leader slammed U.S. animosity towards Iranian nation by saying: “Animosity of the US increases every day, and the nation’s hatred of the US increases every day.”

He further added: “After the disappointment of other methods, the enemy’s present plot consists of dividing between the government and the nation; but they are fools who do not know the government is made up of the Iranian nation and is not separate.”

He then stated: “They --the enemies-- apply economic pressures, seeking to divide between the nation and the government. However, with God’s grace and support, we will reinforce our bonds with the nation and maintain our enemy-defeating solidarity.”
