Jordan pilot's mother calls for burning ISIL terrorists

The mother of Jordanian pilot Moaz al-Kasasba - who was burned alive by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) – called on Sunday on her son's colleagues to "burn" ISIL members alive as well.

"I hope my son's colleagues will burn his killers," al-Kasasba's mother said.

"They [her son's killers] are not Muslims; they are infidels, and I am sure that they [the pilot's colleagues] will avenge his death," she added in a televised speech.

Jordan's Parliament Speaker, Atef Tarawneh, said on Sunday that his country would make a "seismic" reaction to al-Kasasba's killing.

ISIL had lost 7,000 militants and a fifth of its fighting capability since an international coalition began its raids against the group in August of 2014, according to Jordan's Air Force Commander, Mansour al-Jabour.

Al-Jabour said earlier on Sunday that Jordanian warplanes had carried out 946 strikes – out of a total of 5,000 aerial raids carried out by the coalition – against ISIL targets.

Last week, Jordanian King Abdullah II vowed a "relentless" war on the ISIL after the militant group released a video showing al-Kasasba being burned alive.

The ISIL has captured large swathes of land in Iraq and Syria, killing thousands of people in the process.
