AhlulBayt News Agency: Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has appreciated the principled and honorable positions of the Spanish government and people in opposing the US-Israeli military aggression against Iran and condemning the war crimes committed against the Iranians.
Spain's valuable stances in defense of international law and human values have been praised by the Iranian nation and the international community, and will never be forgotten, Araghchi said in a phone call with his Spanish counterpart José Manuel Albares.
Elaborating on the US-Israeli war crimes during their 40 days of military aggression against Iran, he urged all countries to condemn these crimes and to punish the perpetrators.
Araghchi stressed that Iran, in a responsible approach, has positively responded to the good-faith efforts of mediators to establish a ceasefire and halt the war in the Middle East.
He went on to say that achieving ceasefire requires the United States to fulfill its commitments to stop the war and to halt the Israeli regime’s warmongering in Lebanon.
Meanwhile, Manuel Albares reaffirmed that support for international law, human values, and opposition to war are fundamental principles of Spain's foreign policy,
Spain has from the very beginning stressed the illegality of military attacks against Iran, he stated.
He expressed satisfaction over the announcement of a ceasefire and highlighted the need for all parties to adhere to the ceasefire and focus on the diplomacy to restore lasting stability and security in the region.
The two-week ceasefire between Iran and the United States, mediated by Pakistan, came on Wednesday after 40 days of unprovoked US-Israeli war of aggression on the Islamic Republic.
Washington accepted Tehran’s 10-point proposal, including the end of attacks on Lebanon, in a move that was hailed by countries around the world. However, the Israeli regime has continued its attacks both in Iran and Lebanon in breach of the agreed points.
