Taliban restricted on Eid al-Ghadir celebrations in Afghanistan

The Taliban has banned public celebrations of Eid al-Ghadir in the streets and alleys across Afghanistan, limiting observances to closed spaces like mosques and religious halls.

AhlulBayt News Agency: A reliable source confirmed that the Taliban's intelligence agency has issued formal instructions prohibiting any open-air events marking Eid al-Ghadir.

The source added that the Taliban has ordered those wishing to celebrate to do so only indoors—specifically in mosques or Hussainiyas—by holding Qur’an recitations instead of public festivities.

Furthermore, the Taliban has barred Afghan Shia communities from organizing any form of public gathering, street movement, banner displays, or distribution of sweets and drinks in public spaces during the occasion.

These new restrictions are being enforced nationwide, adding to growing concerns over religious freedom for minorities in Afghanistan under Taliban rule.
