AhlulBayt News Agency - Kirkuk Police announced Sunday, May 29, the arrest of the biggest ISI) sleeper cell and seizing a huge amount of arms and explosives.
Sarhad Qadir, the Chief of Kirkuk Police, said that the security forces managed, in an operation conducted on May 29, to locate and arrest the biggest sleeper cell of IS which is responsible for the terror attacks in several areas in Kirkuk province.
The group was also involved in killing and kidnapping civilians and exploding the oil pipelines in some areas near Kirkuk, he said.
Some of the members of the group had previously been serving in the terrorist group in Hawijah before moving to the areas near Kirkuk.
In the operation, the police also seized dozens of IEDs, a number of AK-47, RBK and RPG weapons as well as amounts of C4 and TNT explosives belonging to the group, he added.
Kirkuk Police also announced in a statement on May 19th, the arrest of four men wanted over terrorism charges in an operation in Kirkuk.
