AhlulBayt News Agency - The Desert Hawks Brigade – backed by the Russian Marines, Liwaa Abu Fadl Al-‘Abbas, 68th Brigade of the 18th Tank Division, and Liwaa Imam Al-‘Ali – have begun their long awaited assault at the Al-Sha’ar Gas Fields that are currently under the control of the ISIS.
The Syrian Armed Forces and their allies began the assault after the Russian and Syrian air forces concluded their airstrikes over the Al-Sha’ar Mountains (Jabal Al-Sha’ar) this morning.
These airstrikes proved incredibly effective, as the ISIS units were forced to withdraw east towards the destroyed gas wells of Jabal Al-Sha’ar.
With ISIS’ back against the wall, the Syrian Armed Forces and their allies took the opportunity to launch a powerful ground assault in order to advance their positions.
Currently, heavy clashes are still ongoing at the outskirts of Jabal Al-Sha’ar, as the Syrian Armed Forces attempt to break-through ISIS’ first line of defense.
