AhlulBayt News Agency - hours ago in the Homs Governorate’s southeastern countryside, the extremist rebels from the Free Syrian Army’s “Southern Front” reportedly captured the Tanf border-crossing into the Al-Anbar Governorate of west Iraq after a violent battle with the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS).
The rebels reportedly carried out a powerful assault on ISIS’ weak defenses at the Tanf border-crossing, resulting in the aforementioned terrorist group’s withdrawal to the Al-‘Anbar Governorate.
With the Tanf border-crossing under their control, the rebels have effectively forced ISIS to find another supply route to their fighters in Al-Quraytayn and Palmyra; this will ultimately help the Syrian Armed Forces looking to retake the aforementioned cities.
However, the rebels might not be able to hold onto this area for long, as ISIS surrounds this entire area, making it difficult to hold.
Regardless, the rebels were able to expand their territorial gains across this desert-terrain in southeastern Homs.
