One of the problems faced by Muslims is the deviation in the Islamic culture caused by the Wahhabis and Takfiries, says the head of the Strategic Research Center of Iran's Expediency Council.
'The deviation in the Islamic culture has been created by the Wahhabis and Takfiris and they have wrongly represented Islam as Takfiri and extremist Islam,' said Ali Akbar Velayati at a conference on extremism on Tuesday.
Referring to the Wahhabis and Takfiris, Velayati said that this way they represent a distorted Image of Islam.
'This has been done but with the support of the West; a plot to tarnish the image of Islam,' he said.
The aide to the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Al Khamenei also said that the creation of al-Qaeda terrorist group in Afghanistan and Daesh, also known as ISIS, in Iraq and Syria by the West has been aimed at portraying Islam as an extremist religion.
Velayati said that the Islamic Revolution in Iran has revived and reconstructed the Islamic culture.
'The Islamic Revolution has used culture as a means to export the revolution and its underlying concepts to the world.'
