UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon recently called several European leaders to urge them to equitably share responsibilities toward the flow of migrants and refugees, noting that the challenges European countries facing are the outcome of the broad flow of migrants and refugees.
He also praised European leaders’ will to confront the escalation of xenophobia, discrimination and violence against immigrants and refugees in Europe, expressing his expectation that EU countries will handle such problems in a decisive manner and without delay.
Ban Ki-moon also said that the UN is ready to support the European leaders in developing effective and feasible responses that comply with humanitarian standards and human rights to refugees seeking asylum.
