Lebanese President Joseph Aoun meets Kuwaiti officials to strengthen ties

Lebanon and Kuwait have maintained strong diplomatic and security ties, with ongoing efforts to enhance cooperation. President Aoun’s visit underscores Lebanon’s commitment to strengthening relations. Discussions included security, investment, and preparations for key regional summits.

AhlulBayt News Agency: On Monday, President of the Republic Joseph Aoun met with Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of Kuwait, Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah, at Bayan Palace. The meeting was attended by Lebanon’s Foreign Minister Youssef Raggi, Chargé d’Affaires Ahmad Arafa, and other officials.

Sheikh Al-Sabah congratulated President Aoun on his election and welcomed him to Kuwait, affirming Lebanon’s special place in the hearts of Kuwaitis. He commended the Lebanese community in Kuwait for their contributions and good conduct.

The Kuwaiti Minister also emphasized the strong security cooperation between both nations, particularly in countering drug trafficking, which has led to the successful prevention of multiple smuggling attempts.

During the meeting, Sheikh Al-Sabah reiterated Kuwait’s support for Lebanon and condemned Israel’s repeated attacks.

President Aoun thanked Kuwait for its continuous assistance and reaffirmed the deep-rooted ties between the two countries. He expressed optimism that his discussion with the Emir of Kuwait would yield positive outcomes, especially regarding the return of Kuwaiti nationals to Lebanon.

Both leaders confirmed Lebanon’s full cooperation with Kuwait, particularly in security matters, and agreed to facilitate travel and strengthen bilateral relations. Sheikh Al-Sabah expressed his intention to visit Lebanon, a proposal warmly welcomed by President Aoun.

Later, President Aoun met with Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah to discuss ways to revitalize bilateral agreements and enhance economic and investment ties.

Their discussions also covered preparations for the upcoming Arab Summit in Baghdad and the GCC-U.S. Summit in Saudi Arabia, along with recent political developments in Lebanon.

The Crown Prince then accompanied President Aoun to the main hall of Bayan Palace, where official talks with the Emir of Kuwait began.
