Iran’s oil and natural gas facilities associated with the offshore South Pars field were attacked by Washington and the Zionist regime on Wednesday.

Parts of Iran’s oil and natural gas facilities were attacked by the United States and Israel on the 19th day of war the two regimes imposed on Tehran. The extent of the damage was yet to be determined. Fars news agency said “powerful explosions” had been heard from multiple refineries in Asaluyeh, reporting that “some storage tanks and gas facility areas in different phases” of the refinery had been hit.Staff have been moved to safe locations, FNA added, and rescue teams are working to put out fires.

It's the first attack on Iranian oil and natural gas production facilities in the war waged by the United States and Israel. In late February, the United States and the Israeli regime started their unprovoked military onslaught on Iran. Tehran began to swiftly retaliate against the aggression by launching barrages of missile and drone attacks on the Israeli-occupied territories as well as on the US bases in regional countries. Iran has repeatedly emphasized that it only targets American assets and bases in the region and does not seek conflict with Arab countries.

Iran intends to respond to strikes on its oil and gas facilities in Asaluyeh by targeting “enemy infrastructure that was previously thought to be safe”, FNA reported, citing Iranian military sources. The sources stated the attack on oil and gas facilities was a “war crime” that would not go unpunished, the news agency reported.Tehran also issued an evacuation ‌warning for several energy facilities across Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar, warning they would be targeted "in the coming hours".The warning was directed at Saudi Arabia's Samref Refinery and Jubail Petrochemical Complex, the United Arab Emirates' Al Hosn Gas Field, and Qatar's Mesaieed Petrochemical Complex, Mesaieed Holding Company and Ras Laffan Refinery.
