AhlulBayt News Agency: The Yemeni army has launched a new missile strike targeting Israeli positions in the occupied Palestinian territories, in retaliation for earlier Israeli air raids on Yemen.
Late Sunday night, Israeli warplanes carried out at least 20 airstrikes on the city of Hodeidah in western Yemen.
In a statement released on Sunday, the Yemeni Armed Forces said their Air Force responded to the Israeli aggression.
The statement emphasized that Yemeni forces remain well-prepared and capable, asserting that such attacks will not weaken their military capabilities or their ongoing support for Gaza and Palestine.
According to Israeli media, at least one ballistic missile from Yemen entered the airspace over the occupied territories.
The missile triggered sirens across multiple locations, including the occupied West Bank and Al-Quds.
As a precaution, Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport suspended all flights due to the perceived threat of missile strikes.
The Yemeni attack came in response to Israel's airstrikes on several strategic Yemeni ports earlier the same day.
Israel’s military later issued threats of further attacks and warned of an imminent offensive.
Israeli forces issued evacuation alerts for three Yemeni ports, citing ongoing military activity there.
The named targets included Hodeidah, Ras Isa, as-Salif, and the Hodeidah power station.
As the war in Gaza escalated, Yemeni forces implemented a naval blockade on key shipping routes to disrupt the supply of military equipment to Israel and pressure the world to act on the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
The Yemeni Armed Forces declared their operations would persist until Israel halts its aerial and ground offensives in Gaza, where over 57,300 Palestinians have been killed since the war began on October 7, 2023.
