AhlulBayt News Agency: Head of Iran’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization said Saudi Arabia has agreed to increase Iran’s Hajj quota.
Referring to his meeting with the Saudi Minister of Interior, Ali Reza Bayat said that at the meeting, the Saudi side agreed to raise the quota by 850.
With the new allocated quota, the number of Iranian pilgrims for this year’s Hajj has risen to 86,700, he stated.
Earlier, Iran’s Hajj quota, approved in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), was 85, 850.
He described Iran’s new quota as a welcome development and a sign of good cooperation between the officials of the host country and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Bayat also stated that outbound flights from Iran to Medina and Taif have been completed, and only the flights to Jeddah remain, which, God willing, will conclude on Saturday.
He concluded by saying that the number of Iranian pilgrims for Hajj 3035 who have arrived in the Holy Land so far this year has exceeded 80,000.
Hajj is a pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca that every able-bodied and financially able Muslim is obliged to undertake at least once during their lifetime.
The annual pilgrimage is regarded as one of the pillars of Islam and the largest act of mass pilgrimage in the world. It is also a demonstration of Muslims’ unity and their submission to Allah.
