More than half of the ISIS militants in Hawija district have retreated from the district and went to the other areas under IS control, a source inside Hawija said.

AhlulBayt News Agency - More than half of the ISIS militants in Hawija district have retreated from the district and went to the other areas under IS control, a source inside Hawija said.

As the Iraqi forces are advancing towards the district of Hawija, IS militants have started shaving their beards, disguising themselves as IDPs and leaving the district.

As a local source said "more than half of militants have so far evacuated the district and fled to other areas held by the extremist group."

Moreover, most of the militants have started evacuating their families from Hawija to Nineveh province.

A source from Kirkuk province previously said that IS has transported the commanders' families from Hawija to Nineveh province as the Iraqi army is cutting every supply route to the town.
