The Russian Federal Security Service prevented on Friday a terrorist attack on public transport in the major Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk, the service said in a statement.

The Russian Federal Security Service prevented on Friday a terrorist attack on public transport in the major Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk, the service said in a statement.

The service has not revealed any details on the personalities of the suspected perpetrators for security reasons.

"On May 6, the Federal Security Service officers… foiled a terrorist attack on public transport plotted in the city of Krasnoyarsk for the May holidays. A group of Central Asian countries' citizens linked to international terrorist organizations was detained," the service said.

During the operation, materials related to the plot were confiscated from the group.
