There will be a new programme in Switzerland this summer for young European Muslims, entitled ‘Learning to be a Peacemaker’. The programme is for young European Muslims who want to contribute to a peaceful living together of Muslims and Non-Muslims in Europe and takes place from 4 to 15 August.
The Scottish-Islamic Foundation had made available a sponsored place at the event for a delegate (aged 18-23 or in full-time education) from Scotland to attend the 11 day programme. The programme will be split into two parts: Part 1, the four-day course on ‘Peacemaking in Islam’ (4-9 August 2009), and Part 2, participation in the Tools for Change conference.
It is the idea of Imam Ajmal Masroor, who developed the course which has been successfully piloted in a government-sponsored programme in Sweden. It is now being extended to young Muslims in other parts of Europe.
If you would like to take part in the event please email your CV and a covering letter with a summary of your vision of peacemaking in the world today (500 words max) to faisal.hussein[AT]scottishislamic[DOT]org by June 23rd 2009.
