Iran's Supreme Leader appoints new representative for Iraq

The Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Tuesday appointed Ayatollah Mojtaba Hosseini as his new representative for Iraq.

The Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Tuesday appointed Ayatollah Mojtaba Hosseini as his new representative for Iraq.

A delegation from the office of the Supreme Leader arrived in Holy City of Najaf to introduce new representative of the Supreme Leader to the Iraqi government officials.

They met with Iraqi religious leaders and grand sources of Islamic jurisprudence.

Adviser to the Supreme Leader on Islamic Affairs Ayatollah Mohammad-Ali Taskhiri and Advisor to the Supreme Leader on International Communications Hojjatoleslam Mohsen Qomi are members of the delegation.

Ayatollah Taskhiri in his introduction of Ayatollah Hosseini commemorated the Supreme Leader's former envoy in Holy Najaf, the late Ayatollah Asefi.

Ayatollah Hosseini was formerly the Supreme Leader's representative for Syria.

The Supreme Leader's former representative in Iraq, Ayatollah Sheikh Mohammad-Mehdi Asefi passed away on June 4, 2015.
