AhlulBayt News Agency: The Zionist regime military, concurrent with escalation of air attacks on the Gaza Strip, has intensified its ground attacks and operations in the region called "Morag" Corridor.
The news-analysis website Al-Araby Al-Jadeed has reported on Sunday about the latest moves of the Zionist regime in the Gaza Strip, "Since the resumption of war against the Gaza Strip in last March, the Occupying Israeli military is intent to create a new field reality and the regime's Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has spoken of dominance over "Philadelphi 2 Corridor" or what is known as "Morag" to separate the city of Khan Younis from the city of Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip after "Salaheddine" Corridor in the border of the Gaza Strip and Egypt."
Al-Araby Al-Jadeed added, "It seems that the occupiers are seeking to dominate this region, with an area of almost 12 square kilometers, so that they separate the city of Rafah on the border of the Gaza Strip with Egypt- as the only gate to connect the region with the world outside- from other parts of the Gaza Strip, especially the north and the center. If the occupiers are dominant over Morag Corridor- like what occurred in Netzarim Corridor and halved the Gaza Strip- the total area occupied by them will reach 74 square kilometers in the form of the "Barrier Zone" out of the entire Gaza Strip which is 360 square kilometers."
In terms of a field viewpoint, no severe clash or military confrontation has taken place between the Palestinian resistance and the Israeli regime army. It seems that some changes have happened in the military tactics so that the Ezzedine Qassam battalions, as the military wing of Hamas, have refrained from clashes, particularly in the eastern regions, due to the slow and gradual advancement of the Israeli Occupying army in the Gaza Strip. This indicates that the resistance gives respite to the negotiation table to reach an agreement.
Ramy Abu Zubaida, Arab military analyst, said in this regard, "The decision of the occupiers to dominate Morag, one and a half years after the war, is in accordance with the strategy aimed at revision of the security and political situation in the Gaza Strip. One of the goals of the Israeli regime is to pressure the resistance to decrease its capability and force it to give more concessions during the exchange of captives."
Meanwhile, Ayad al-Qara, another Arab political analyst, said to Al-Araby Al-Jadeed website, "Occupiers consider Morag Corridor as a strong field leverage and this is revealed in the numerous remarks of Iyal Zamir, Chief of the General Staff and Israel Katz, the Minister of War of Israel and even Netanyahu himself. What is happening today is similar to what happened in Netzarim Corridor where the occupiers were forced to exit the axis completely during the phases of the agreement and the aim of controlling Morag Corridor is to exercise field pressure on the Palestinian resistance."
