AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed has on Friday called for the withdrawal of foreign troops illegally in Syria.
The move came during his meeting with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on his first visit to an Arab country since 2011.
According to Syrian presidential, Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan received President Al-Assad at the Beach Palace, and that he “considered this visit to be part of the joint concern to continue the consultation and fraternal coordination between the two countries on various issues.”
Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan confirmed that Syria is a fundamental pillar of Arab security, and that the UAE is keen to strengthen cooperation with it, ”, The UAE’s state-run WAM news agency reported.
He further stressed “the need for the withdrawal of all foreign forces that are illegally present on Syrian territory, and expressed the UAE’s keenness to strengthen cooperation with Syria in areas that meet the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples.”
During the meeting, the two discussed expanding bilateral relations between their countries.
At the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed expressed his hope “this visit would be the beginning of peace and stability for Syria and the entire region.”
