Members of the UK Parliament have launched a new inquiry into the effectiveness of a Home Office scheme designed to improve security at mosques, Islamic centres and Muslim religious schools, following reports of lengthy delays, unclear funding decisions and uncertainty among vulnerable institutions.
Following a protest gathering by Muslims in New Delhi against attacks on mosques and other religious places, several Indian Parliament members, officials of Islamic organizations, and a number of protesters were arrested by police; this gathering was held one day after developments related to the historic Shahi Mosque in Ujjain.
The Maldivian minister of Islamic affairs has announced that 15 major Islamic projects, including the construction of mosques and Islamic centers, will be completed and inaugurated before the start of the next Ramadan.
