"The Oasis is characterized by green spaces planted with Thistle to be an outlet for families from inside and outside the province of Karbala,"said the head of the Department; Nasser Hussein Miteb.
"The Oasis is bordered by six neighborhoods on the East and four on the West, "he added, pointing out that"(24) oases have been implemented so far in the southern green belt stretching from the Artal road leading to Baghdad province to Najaf Al-Ashraf road."
According to Miteb, the Oasis was implemented on an area of ten thousand square meters, and contains 409 palm trees and 304 olive trees, in addition to 752 young palms and 467 other plantings".
The Southern Green Belt project receives the attention of the holy shrine administration, and is considered a strategic project for its contribution to repelling wind and dust from the holy city of Karbala, meeting the challenges of climate change, combating desertification and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, in addition to attracting a large number of workers and producing many agricultural crops.
