AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): A complaint has been lodged against a Sub Inspector for allegedly assaulting some youth near the Chottanikkara Devi temple located at Chottanikkara, a southern suburb of the city of Kochi in the state of Kerala, India. The CCTV visuals of the SI attacking two youth at 11 pm on November 1 also come out. In the visuals, the SI who stepped down from his jeep was seen manhandling the two men and also stamping them with boots.

Kozhikode native Mithun and his friend Syedali from Kollam who reached Kochi for an interview were attacked by the SI. They have registered a complaint at the office of rural SP, Aluva.

Mithun, who wished to visit Chottanikkara temple before his interview, also took his friend Syedali with him. When they reached Chottanikkara, they found that the temple was closed. It was when they were waiting for the bus back to Ernakulam, the vehicle of Chottanikkara police passed and SI approached them asking their names. The SI started to beat them asking why did someone from another religion stay near the temple.

Even after Syedali told the cop that he was just accompanying his friend and then showed the documents of the interview, the SI continued hurling abusive words at him and slapped on his face. The locals rushed to the spot hearing the cries of the youth. They also called the panchayat president and ward member. Later, they took Mithun and Syedali to Tripunithura hospital. The doctors referred to shift them to Ernakulam General hospital.
