AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Commemoration ceremony on the anniversary of 8th of Shahrivar martyrs (Counter-Terrorism Day) in the presence of Iran's West Azerbaijan province officials and the martyr's families, was held in Urmia, Northwest of Iran.
"Iran's stable position has been achieved thanks to the bravery of the martyrs", said Hujjat al-Islam Seyyed Mehdi Qureshi, Islamic Revolution Leader Representative in Iran's West Azarbaijan Province, speaking at the commemoration ceremony of the Government martyrs held on Thursday,
He further added that the presence of warriors at the 'right against falsehood front' and during Iraq's imposed war against Iran reflects the legitimacy of the Islamic revolution against arrogance.
On 30 August 1981, the then Iranian President Rajai held a meeting of Iran's Supreme Defence Council, along with the Prime Minister Mohammad Javad Bahonar. Witnesses later stated that a trusted aide brought a briefcase into the conference room, set it between the two leaders, and then left. Another person opened the case, triggering a bomb that set the room ablaze and martyred Rajai, Bahonar, and three others. This attack occurred two months after the 'Hafte Tir' bombing.
