The theme of this edition is role of Muslim scholars in uprooting Takfir and extremism, Sana news agency reported.
The gathering has been organized by the representative office of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Syria in cooperation with Syria’s Awqaf Ministry, and the Union of Muslim Scholars in the Levant.
On the first day of the congress, the participants pointed to the threat of terrorist groups and underlined the role of scholars in tackling this threat.
They said that if Takfiri and terrorist groups continue their operations in the region, the threat of Takfir and terrorism will spread to the entire world.
The gathering also warned against the plots hatched by foreign powers to foment discord in the region and in Syria.
The congress will conclude at al-Damazour Hotel in Damascus on Tuesday.
