ABNA24 - A Yemeni scholar criticized a recent stance by Egypt’s Al-Azhar Islamic Center about the US-Israeli aggression on Iran and Tehran’s retaliatory attacks.
Professor Saad Ibrahim Al-Alawi, dean of the Faculty of Education in Yemen’s Sana’a University, said Al-Azhar should base its stances on original Quranic perspectives and pure Islam.
He made the remarks in an article, which is as follows:
At the height of the historical confrontation and religious battle of the Islamic Ummah led by the Islamic Republic of Iran, which represents the front of truth, justice and freedom against the front of disbelief, tyranny, lies and crime represented by the United States, the Zionist regime and the Arab hypocrites, Al-Azhar’s statement raises difficult questions about its role, performance and perspective on sensitive issues of the Ummah.
This is while the positions of this Islamic center should be based on a single, original and unifying Quranic and Muhammadan perspective that encompasses the Ummah with all its religious, sectarian, ethnic and national diversity and originates from the Holy Quran and the original Muhammadan Islam.
Although the Al-Azhar statement emphasized the need to protect the lives of innocent civilians and expressed solidarity with the families of the killed and victims in the Persian Gulf countries, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, etc., as stated in the statement, what can be said about the lives of the martyrs, victims, and wounded in the Islamic Republic of Iran, headed by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei and his noble family members?
What about the souls of the nearly 160 martyred children who died in the brutal attack by American planes? What about the thousands of martyrs, victims, and wounded in Tehran, Isfahan, Khorramshahr, and other cities of Iran? Don’t these victims deserve a statement of condemnation from Al-Azhar?!
What is Al-Azhar’s position while witnessing the widespread destruction in Iran over the past four weeks?! A crime that has affected facilities, schools and residential areas, but it does not take any action to issue a statement condemning and denouncing it, the barbaric massacre, war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the US and the Zionist regime!
Do Al-Azhar and its scholars understand that the Islamic Republic of Iran is an Islamic state and its people are Muslims who testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad (PBUH) is the Messenger of God?
Do Al-Azhar and its scholars understand that the planes and missiles fired from the territory of the Persian Gulf countries and others are targeting a Muslim country? And that this criminal act, in which the Persian Gulf countries and others are involved, is a clear deviation from the principles of Islam, which require the protection of life and the preservation of human dignity?
While the Al-Azhar statement calls on Iran to immediately stop its “unjustified” attacks on the Persian Gulf countries, it does not call on these countries to stop their attacks on the Islamic Republic that originate from their territory, because these attacks seem justified to the authorities of the center?!
From the perspective of Sharia, we address Al-Azhar with this statement and ask: Is it permissible for those Persian Gulf countries to allow the construction of military bases and allow their sovereignty to be violated by infidel and criminal countries to attack a Muslim country? And where was Al-Azhar for decades while military bases were being built and established and thousands of infidel and criminal elements were violating the sanctity of Islamic countries?
Finally, it becomes clear to us that a legitimate framework from which this statement originates is completely absent.
This statement reveals a very clear bias and alliance between corrupt scholars and oppressive rulers. Unfortunately, this institution does not represent pure Muhammadan Islam; rather, it aligns itself with the goals of authoritarian authorities and legitimizes their policies, which are allied with the forces of disbelief, tyranny, and hypocrisy.
God Almighty says: “Permission is given to those against whom aggression is launched because they have been wronged, and God is fully capable of giving them victory.” God Almighty has spoken the truth, and the final victory belongs to the righteous.
May the peace and blessings of God be upon Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his pure family (AS).
