President Masoud Pezeshkian says Iran has been left with no choice but to defend itself in the face of military attacks by the United States and Israel.
Pezeshkian made the remarks on Wednesday evening on his X account in a message addressed to regional leaders, emphasizing Iran’s respect for the sovereignty of their countries.
“The esteemed heads of friendly and neighboring countries, we made every effort to avoid war with your help and through diplomacy, but the US-Zionist military attack left us with no option but to defend ourselves. We respect your sovereignty and continue to believe that the region’s tranquility must be established by the countries of the region,” the Iranian president said.
The criminal regimes of the US and Israel attacked Iran on Saturday, February 28, in an unprovoked act of aggression, targeting sites across the country, including schools, hospitals, and sports halls.
Iran responded by launching missiles and drones at targets inside Israel as well as at American bases across the region.
