Egypt’s 32nd international Quran competition to honor Shahat Anwar

Egypt’s International Quran Competition, held annually, is a prestigious event showcasing global reciters and memorizers. This year, the competition pays tribute to Shahat Muhammad Anwar, a legendary Quran reciter. The event includes diverse categories, fostering participation from various backgrounds.

AhlulBayt News Agency – Egypt's 32nd International Quran Competition is scheduled for December 2025, and this year's edition will honor the late Shahat Muhammad Anwar, one of the most revered Quran reciters in Egypt and the Islamic world.

According to Dar al-Maaref, Egyptian Awqaf Minister Osama al-Azhari confirmed that the event will take place during the Islamic month of Jumada al-Thani 1447, coinciding with mid-December.

Anwar, who passed away in 2008, was known for his deeply moving and powerful Quranic recitations. His unique style continues to inspire generations of Quran students and reciters worldwide.

This year’s competition will include various categories focused on Quran memorization and recitation, as well as interpretation, Tajwid, and the historical significance of verses. Special sections are designed for non-Arabic speakers, individuals with disabilities, and families dedicated to Quranic study.

Held annually, Egypt's International Quran Competition attracts top reciters and memorizers from around the world. Last year, more than 100 participants and judges from 60 countries attended the event.
