AhlulBayt News Agency: In a speech on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, Hujjat al-Islam Ashfaq Wahidi, former member of the Interfaith Coordination and Peace Committee of the Government of Pakistan, considered this month as an opportunity for approaching God, praying and purifying oneself, and emphasized the importance of feeling responsible for the oppressed in society.

Referring to the philosophy of fasting, he stated,” Fasting is not only about avoiding food, rather its main purpose is for a person to strengthen his sense of empathy and altruism by understanding the conditions of the deprived and oppressed.”

The holy month of Ramadan is the feast of Allah, and in this month, Allah Almighty has invited His servants to a special feast in which every good deed, even sleeping, will be rewarded. Therefore, this month provides the best opportunity for repentance, seeking forgiveness, prayer, and striving for individual and social reform.
