Rereading American Islam through controversial interview of El-Sayed, 1st Muslim senator in US history

El-Sayed's entry into the US Senate and the victory of other Muslim candidates drew attention to their political role; El-Sayed's positions and confrontations with Trump and his anti-Israel remarks unconsciously drew part of the Iranian audience into the vortex of supporting him. But the release of a clip of his recent reaction (forced or conscious) to the assassination of the martyred Leader of the Revolution has once again drawn attention to his political positions and raised questions about the concept of "American Islam."
