Qom Seminary courses include a three-year preparatory course (daura-i pish hawzavi) for junior high school graduates and a one-year course for high school graduates. The four-year general course (daura-i umumi), divided into Levels 1 and 2, is equivalent to an undergraduate course. Level 3 covers the six areas: study of the Quran and hadith, philosophy, tabligh, history, ethics, and Islamic education; this course is equivalent to a master course. After taking this master's-level course, students can opt for another three-year special course (Level 4) and an even more advanced extra special course comprising ijtihad I (Level 5) and ijtihad 2 (Level 6).
