President Assad’s remarks were as he received sons and daughters of martyrs on the occasion of the Martyrs' Day on Tuesday, Al-Manar reported.

Martyrs' Day is a precious occasion for all Syrians and it means much "as we have always felt pride of our martyrs who have protected, along with their families, our Homeland," the Syrian leader said according to official news agency, SANA.

Assad told sons and daughters of martyrs that each one of them has to be proud of his/ her father who has offered his blood for the sake of Homeland and for each citizen.

"If all people were strong, firm and not intimidated like you and your families, we would certainly gain victory over terrorists. "

President Assad also hoped that the next Martyrs’ Day Syria will celebrate its victory against terrorists.

"On the next Martyrs' Day we will meet, God willing, not only to celebrate the occasion, but also to celebrate victory over terrorists who have perpetrated the ugliest crimes against Syrian people."
