Pakistani Scholar: Insulting Islamic Sanctities Plot to Prevent Spread of Islam

A Pakistani Muslim scholar said the purpose behind insulting Islamic sanctities is preventing the spread of Islam in the West.

Qari Abdul Rahman, prayers leader of Jami Safir Mosque in Pakistan, added that those who commit acts of desecration do not want to see the growth of Islam and try to discourage non-Muslims in the West to get to know Islam.

Referring to the recent publication of blasphemous cartoons of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), he described it as an anti-Islamic act by the enemies of the religion.

On January 14, the French weekly Charlie Hebdo, whose Paris office was attacked by two gunmen on January 7, once again published a cartoon of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) on the cover of its new edition despite warnings that the move is provocative.

The sacrilegious move has drawn condemnation from Muslims all over the world.

Qari Abdul Rahman underlined that the enemies of Islam want to attribute violence to the religion and tarnish its image so that people will stay away from it.

He said, however, that like their failed attempts in the past, the enemies will not be able to impede the spread of Islam, but, to the contrary, people will become more eager to learn about the faith.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Pakistani scholar urged Muslims to remain vigilant against the anti-Islamic schemes.

He stressed that Muslims should exercise unity and solidarity and act upon the teachings of Islam and the Quran and present the true image of Islam to the world.
