Zarif to France FM: Freedom of speech should go along freedom of thought

Following his meetings with US Secretary of State and German FM, Mohammad Javad Zarif met with Laurent Fabius in Paris Friday evening.

The two FMs, alongside the nuclear issue, discussed the regional issues and bilateral ties.

Zarif, while expressing his sorrow and condolence for the victims and survivors, condemned the terrorist attack in Paris and stressed that avoiding abuse of freedom of speech is necessity and the religious values should be respected. “The principle of freedom of speech should go hand in hand with freedom of thought,” he added.

Besides Iran’s Nuclear Program and the N-talks, Regional issues of Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq and Iran’s role in establishing peace and stability in the region were discussed as well.

Iranian official expressing his pleasure over improvement of status of relations, emphasized on the necessity of extending the relations and resolving banking issues, which were welcomed by his French counterpart.
