Takfiri militants of the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorist group have destroyed a mosque belonging to Shia Muslims in Diyala province, northeast of Baghdad.
The mosque in Jalula town was completely demolished by members of the terrorist group, al-Jarida daily reported.
They also destroyed a Hussianiya (Shia religious center) after capturing the small town.
The ISIL terrorists have been committing heinous crimes in the captured areas of Iraq, including the mass execution of civilians and Iraqi security forces.
Iraq came under a massive blitz by the ISIL Takfiri militants in June. The crisis in the country escalated after the ISIL militants took control of Mosul, in a lightning advance on June 10, which was followed by the fall of Tikrit, located 140 kilometers (87 miles) northwest of the capital Baghdad.
More than a million people have been displaced by the ISIL-led violence in Iraq so far this year, according to the UN.
