AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): More than 200 foreign reporters and photographers will cover the programs marking the 42nd anniversary of Iran’s Islamic Revolution, an official said.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Nosratollah Lotfi, deputy head of the Islamic Development Organization, said 6,200 reporters, photographers and journalists, including 200 foreigners, are going to cover the nationwide events on February 10.
He said that due to the coronavirus restrictions, the rallies this year will involve people driving in vehicles and riding on motorcycles not marching through the streets.
The ceremonies on the occasion will be held in more than 1,000 cities and towns as well as some 4,000 villages, he noted.
Lotfi said special programs marking the occasion will also be held in Iranian missions in other countries with the cooperation of the Foreign Ministry, Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) World Assembly, and Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought.
Every year, millions of Iranians across the country observe ten days of celebrations marking the anniversary of the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution that put an end to the monarchy of the US-backed Pahlavi regime in the country.
The day of Imam Khomeini’s return to Iran marks the beginning of the Ten Day Fajr (Ten Days of Dawn), which culminates with rallies on the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution on February 11.
The Iranian nation toppled the US-backed Pahlavi regime 42 years ago, ending the 2,500 years of monarchic rule in the country.
The Islamic Revolution spearheaded by the late Imam Khomeini established a new political system based on Islamic values and democracy.
