Islamic University Malaysia to Host Conference on Islamic Economics

International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) will host the 2ND International Conference on Islamic Economics and Economies of the OIC, 29 - 30 January, 2013.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The conference is going to be held under the theme of "Islamic Economic Solutions for OIC Countries: Theory and Policy” by Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).

As the world struggles to recover from increasingly frequent financial and economic crises, OIC countries have the opportunity to embrace Islamic economics as an indigenous approach to guide their economic policy responses. However, for this to meaningfully happen, both the Islamic theoretical foundations and their connections to policy making and implementation must be given greater attention and be integrated.

Critical Literature Surveys in Various Areas of Islamic Economics, Nature and methodology of Islamic Economics, Islamic Economic System and Islamic Economy, Islam and Poverty and Income Distribution, Entrepreneurship Development and Role of Women, The Islamic Approach and Instruments for Enhancing Financial Services for Micro and Medium-Sized Enterprises,

Case Studies of the Muslim countries on Zakah- and Awqaf-based Social Safety-nets, Economic Indebtedness of the OIC Countries, Economic Cooperation among the OIC Countries for Infrastructure Development, Response of Islamic Economics to Regional/Global Economic and Financial Crises and Teaching Modules for Different Topics in Islamic Economics are among the subjects that will be discussed in the conference.
