AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) in Karbala, Iraq, has announced an extensive program to commemorate World Quran Day on 27th Rajab, 1446 (corresponding to January 28, 2025).
The event, organized by the shrine's Dar-ol-Quran Center, will feature a variety of activities aimed at promoting Quranic knowledge.
Highlights of the vent:
1. Sixth International Imam Hussein (AS) Conference
The conference will unveil the Quranic Encyclopedia of Ahl al-Bayt (AS), host scientific Quranic sessions with the participation of 160 scholars from 12 Arab and Islamic nations, and conduct workshops to explore the encyclopedia's foundational principles. Discussions will also include prominent religious figures.
2. Specialized Quranic seminars
Seven seminars will address various aspects of Quranic studies, with portions broadcasted on Karbala Satellite Channel to reach a wider audience.
3. Youth-focused initiatives
A Quran-themed festival for teenagers will be held, alongside another focusing on tawasheeh.
4. Exhibition
The Quranic Exhibition will feature Islamic calligraphy, decorations, and Quranic manuscripts. A book fair will also display publications from the Quranic Affairs Center.
5. Quran competitions
Two Quran competitions—titled "Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance) in the Holy Quran" and "On the Heights of Differences"—will encourage scholarly engagement with Quranic themes.
6. Quranic gatherings and recitations
Renowned Quranic personalities from Iraq, Egypt, Lebanon, and Iran will participate in events at the shrine and across Iraq, including 23 gatherings in 16 provinces and a dedicated session at Wasit University.
7. Global participation
Fifty distinguished Quran reciters from across the Islamic world will be invited.
The World Quran Day is held annually in the holy city of Karbala to commemorate the anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) Mab’ath (appointment to prophethood) and continues for a week.
