Ahlulbayt News Agency: The Secretariat General of the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine announced this afternoon of the 20th Safar 1446 AH, corresponding to August 25, 2024, in an official statement, that the number of the visitors during the Arba'een of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) of this year 1446 AH, since the 7th Safar to noon of the 20th Safar, has reached 21.480.525 visitors.
The Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine relied on an accurate electronic counting system powered by artificial intelligence to count arrivals to the holy city of Karbala, through the roads taken by visitors and the doors of the holy shrine.
The following is the text of the statement:
"We extend our condolences to the Imam al-Hujjah (peace be upon him) and all the believers in the world, for the anniversary of Arba'een of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) asking the Almighty to protect the lands of Muslims from all evil and that the visitors of Aba Abdillah al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) return to their cities and homelands safe with accepted deeds of worship and obedience.
As usual for more than 13 centuries, the holy city of Karbala was honored by the guests and visitors of Aba Abdillah al-Hussayn and his brother Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon both of them) in the blessed Ziyarat of Arba'een this year 1446 AH. And the servants of the holy shrines had the great honor to receive them and provide them with diverse services, which included medical, service and mourning activities and also the service of documenting the numbers of visitors by the electronic counting system for arrival at the main entrances of Karbala. This system was installed and managed by the Communications' division of the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine for the ninth year in a row. In addition to the statistical analysis documentation of the rest of the services in the holy city of Karbala performed by the al-Kafeel Center for Information and Statistical Studies.
The number of visitors registered according to the electronic counting system in four axes (Baghdad - Karbala, Najaf - Karbala, Babylon - Karbala, Hussaynia - Karbala) this year is 21.480.525 (Twenty-one million four hundred eighty thousand five hundred twenty-five) visitors, for the period from 7th Safar until the noon of the 20th Safar in 1446 AH.
The statement included statistics for the number of visitors according to the electronic counting system for the last years:
1- (11,210,367) Eleven million two hundred and ten thousand three hundred and sixty-seven visitors for the year 1438 AH.
2- (13,874,818) thirteen million eight hundred seventy-four thousand eight hundred and eighteen visitors for the year 1439 AH.
3- (15,322,949) fifteen million three hundred twenty-two thousand nine hundred and forty-nine visitors for the year 1440 AH.
4- (15,229,955) fifteen million two hundred and twenty-nine thousand nine hundred and fifty-five visitors for the year 1441 AH.
5- (14,553,308) fourteen million five hundred and fifty-three thousand three hundred and eight visitors for the year 1442 AH.
6- (16,327,542) Sixteen million three hundred and twenty-seven thousand five hundred and forty-two visitors for the year 1443 AH.
7- (21,198,640) twenty-one million, one hundred ninety-eight thousand, six hundred and forty visitors for the year 1444 AH.
8- (22,019,146) twenty-two million nineteen thousand, one hundred forty six visitors for the year 1445 AH.
