US President Barack Obama surprised yesterday his visitors, the Patriarchs of the Eastern Christians, when he told them that the President Bashar al-Assad protected the Christians in Syria, befuddling the attendees who did not believe what they heard and tried to conceal it.
The Patriarchs submitted to Obama a paper which displays the situations of the Christians in each Eastern country.
The ecclesial sources told al-Akbar that Obama used the term "Syrian government" instead of "regime" which is usually used in US to describe the rule in Syria.
