AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): A special appreciation ceremony dubbed “Africa's Ibrahim” was held in the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) for Nigerian Shia cleric Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky with his family, AQR chief custodian and university and seminary students in attendance.

During the ceremony, Sheikh Abbasi, the Dean of Al-Mustafa University, pointed to Sheikh Zakzaky’s continued pursuit of religious education and raising the banner of support for the oppressed.

“In recent years, this devoted Mujahid is incarcerated by enemies despite serious illness. Human rights defenders have made no move in this regard and even though the court ruled him innocent, he is still imprisoned,” he said.

Sheikh Zakzaky, the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria has established many charity centers for the disadvantaged Muslims in Nigeria, who constitute almost fifty to sixty percent of the country's population, according to official and unofficial sources. He lost three of his sons in 2014 during a raid against his house by military forces.

Elsewhere, Sheikh Abbasi commented that the enemy wants to show all the events of the Islamic countries as a tribal war and religious divisions, saying, “If these things which have happened to Sheikh Zakzaky, would have happened to a Zionist, the arrogant powers would have made a big scene in the world to seek justice, hence, we should not remain silent.”

At the end of the ceremony, Tavassol Prayer was read by participants for Sheikh Zakzaky’s health and release.
