AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Four Bahraini female detainees were released from prison on Sunday.
Medina Ali as well as sisters Fatima, Amal, and Iman Abdullah, were serving a three-year prison sentence.
Ali, a former sales assistant, was detained in May 2017 and later convicted of harboring a fugitive.
Meanwhile, the Abdullah sisters were jailed along with Fatima’s husband over what rights campaigners say are trumped-up charges.
The women’s release comes as Manama freed more the 500 inmates under the so-called Alternative Punishment Law.
The law was introduced in May 2018 and allows judges to free prisoners that the judiciary deems are unlikely to commit a ‘crime’ in the future.
