Amnesty calls for urgent action ahead of Bahraini detainees' death sentence ruling

Amnesty International on Tuesday called for urgent action ahead of Bahrain detainees Mohamed Ramadan and Husain Moosa’s death sentence ruling.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Amnesty International on Tuesday called for urgent action ahead of Bahrain detainees Mohamed Ramadan and Husain Moosa’s death sentence ruling.

“On 25 Dec, the expected verdict for Hussain Ali Moosa and Mohamed Ramadhan must be fair and without recourse to the death penalty,” the rights group wrote in a Twitter post.

Manama’s appeals court postponed its ruling in the case against both until December 25.

Amnesty called on Bahraini Minister of Justice Khaled bin Ali al-Khalifa to “ensure they get redress and those suspected of their torture are held accountable.”

The two men are appealing death sentences, which they received for their alleged role in a 2014 bombing in Bahrain’s Al-Dair.

But last year, Manama’s top court ruled that the initial verdicts against Ramadan and Moosa were based on confessions extracted under torture and ordered a review of the case.
