AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Bahraini rights campaigner Ebtisam al-Saegh reported that more than 50 detainees in Jaw Prison are suffering from scabies and have not been treated.
In the past few days, al-Saegh has been sharing voice recordings of several inmates housed in Jaw’s building 12 complaining about medical negligence and worsening sanitary conditions in the prison.
The rights activists earlier reported that the situation is made worse by poorly ventilated and overcrowded cells. The cells designed to hold 8 inmates often house double that number for up to 23 hours per day.
International rights groups have repeatedly accused Bahraini prison authorities of blatantly disregarding the health of detainees.
