AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The Bahrain Center for Human Rights (BCHR) is reporting the start of another mass hunger strike involving at least 13 Bahraini death row inmates in the Bahrain's Jaw Prison.
The prisoners are reportedly demanding unobstructed family visitation as well as longer and more frequent visits.
Hunger strikes in Bahraini detention centers have become increasingly frequent in recent months over what prisoners describe as inhumane living conditions and abuses.
Last month, a group of detainees suspended their hunger strike following assurances that their grievances would be addressed.
According to the BCHR, “things are still the same.” The rights group cited testimonies from the detainees and their families, noting that “prisoners suffer from severe and persistent harassment and deprivation of basic rights.”
