AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Stating that the people affected by the recent earthquake in East Azerbaijan Province must not live in tents in cold weather, Dr Rouhani said, "They should rather rent a house, and we will pay their rents”.
Speaking at cabinet session on Wednesday, President Hassan Rouhani said, “We should all try to resolve the problems of people who live in these quake-hit areas as soon as possible”.
“We should provide facilities for the people who live in these areas to live easier in cold winter,” said Rouhani, adding, “I urge the Ministry of Interior, the Crisis Mitigation Taskforce and all related organs to act swiftly for providing rental houses for people until their houses are rebuilt better than before”.
He continued, “I would like to thank everybody for restoring water, power, gas and all facilities in the shortest time possible”.
The President went on to appreciate the armed forces, authorities, the media and the press, as well as all those who helped in this regard, saying, “It is an honour for our entire nation that wherever people encounter problems, they prove that we are members of one body”.
He urged everyone to stay united and in peace, saying, “We must all increase our patience”.
Referring to the President’s responsibilities under the Constitution, Dr Rouhani said, “Some may be happy about this responsibility being carried out, and some may not”.
“All we say is let’s act decisively in our fight against corruption, which we started from 2013, and not turn it into discord and division, but rather unity,” he said.
He went on to mention the $2.7 billion that was stolen, saying, “I have repeatedly talked about this issue in the past. People have the right to know where this money went and who were behind it”.
“I will say this over and over again, as I have in the past, until it is settled. When it is settled, I will thank all those who helped resolve it,” said Rouhani.
He added, “One took $260 million, another took $420-430 million of our oil and did not pay us back. You must be held accountable on what you did with the $700 million oil you took from us”.
Dr Rouhani also mentioned the correspondence in this regard to learn of the fate of the money and said, “The Supreme Leader told me what you are saying is your right and they must answer you”.
The government has a heavy responsibility in the country’s public affairs, he said, adding, “I cannot not tell the truth regarding elections. Elections are people’s future. Everybody must come to the ballot box, and if I feel there is a problem, I will write letters urging attention to the Constitution”.
“Therefore, we have to be patient towards each other,” said Rouhani, adding, “This is the time of unity, solidarity and standing against the United States”.
Referring to his latest visit to Yazd and Kerman provinces and the opening of many projects there, he said that the opening of these projects is a strong response to the White House.
He also mentioned the opening of steel production factories in the two provinces, saying, “In the production of sponge iron, good things have happened and we opened factories with over 4 million tonnes of production capacity”.
On the boost in greenhouse agriculture, he said, “The area has increased to 2400 hectares from 1400 hectares and a great work has been done in this area”.
“The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is an honour for us, but the development of villages is a higher priority,” said Rouhani.
The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran also went on to refer to visiting 11 knowledge enterprises in Yazd, saying, “A great work has been carried out in this regard and the communications infrastructure laid in the 11th and 12th governments is the biggest honour for the country”.
He continued, “We are under the most intense pressure in terms of economy, but we were able to harness the crisis to a great extent. This is an honour for us and the entire nation”.
“Today that we have stood against the US is because of your resistance and tolerance. If you had surrendered, we would not be able to do anything,” he said, addressing the people.
