Bahraini detainee's hunger strike enters 66th day

Bahraini detainee Ali Al-Hajee has reportedly been on hunger for over two months.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Bahraini detainee Ali Al-Hajee has reportedly been on hunger for over two months.

The London-based Bahrain Institute for Rights and Democracy (BIRD) is reporting that Al-Hajee marked his 66th day on hunger strike this Tuesday. He is demanding access to medical care and unobstructed family visitation.

Al-Hajee has written numerous letters to the British government, one of Manama’s closest allies, alleging physical and psychological abuses as well as restrictions on religious freedoms.

Late last year, Al-Hajee observed a 75-day hunger strike due to long-term denial of urgent medical care.

He also was tortured following his arrest in 2013 and later subjected to an unfair trial that resulted in his conviction on ‘terrorism’ charges.
