AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Astan Quds Razavi, the body in charge of Imam Reza (AS) holy shrine, predicts that over 8 million pilgrims will visit the shrine city of Mashhad at the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Reza (AS).
Stating the above, Hoj. Hossein Shariatinejad, the head of AQR Deputy Office for Islamic Publicity, said that 800 of the above number are pilgrims on foot. “Most of the pilgrims will enter Mashhad in the last ten days of the month of Safar in mourning groups. This year’s martyrdom anniversary program will be observed with the theme of “With Imam against the Enemy of Imam.”
“The traditional ritual of Khotbeh Khani (mourning plus eulogy while carrying candles) and the Shaam-e Ghareeban (The Evening of Strangers) ceremony will be held on the night of the martyrdom of Imam Reza (AS) as every year. During the event, about 150 speeches and mourning programs, dubbed ‘The Glory of Sacrifice,’ will be presented in the courtyards and porticos of the holy shrine,” he added.
A poetry night called “Rasm-e De’bel” with the participation of Iranian Persian-speaking poets is another program that will be held those nights.
According to him, the large gathering of Imam Reza (AS) mourners on the last day of the month of Safar, coinciding with the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Reza (AS), will be observed at the Jame’ courtyard of the holy shrine establishment.
“Various programs in Arabic, Azeri, Turkish and Urdu languages will be also performed on this occasion,” he commented.
